David Tupper has never been shy of “taking one for the team” … and not just for his team too. As an avid supporter of Jersey Cheshire Homes, David has put himself through many a rigorous challenge, all to raise money for this great cause.
2022 has been no exception, as David paid (yes, he put his hand in his own pocket) to cover his travel and accommodation expenses and join a group of enthusiastic souls completing the trek across some of the highest peaks in the European regions of Kosovo, Monenegro, Albania and Macedonia. This expedition encountered some rough terrains and high peaks to negotiate, not to mention some rather dubious (by David’s standards, at least) sleeping arrangements (and don’t mention the loo roll, whatever you do)! Starting at Kosovo’s stunning Mt Gjeravica with its elevation of 2,656m before crossing the border into Albania, the scenery was idyllic with the towering peaks of the Alpine Mountains with its jagged ridges, to pristine valleys with green meadows full of wild berries. Then onto Montenegro and Mt Zla Kolata (elevation 2,534m). Think forests and shards of limestone, this trek certainly opened minds as well as borders, allowing the team to witness cultures and traditions in these settlements and communities, which have been preserved for generations. The final leg of the trek took the team up Albania and Macedonia’s highest peak: Mt Korab, with an elevation of 2,751m, it rises high above the border.
During the trek, the team guested in remote villages and shepherds homes in these far-flung regions. It was very much appreciated too, with the team trekking over 70km and conquering rugged terrains. For David, it was a pleasure to be able to do something to support TLC’s chose charity and help to raise much needed funds for them to continue their work. TLC were proud to have sponsored David’s trek (in addition to his own donation to cover the costs of taking part). Going forward, TLC Finance will be continuing it’s support of Jersey Cheshire Homes, by making a donation from every loan that is paid out.
